About Your Coach
Hello! I'm Kylie Jenifer Rose. I am a dialect/voice coach is based in Portland, Oregon. I'm also an active actor, puppeteer, and singer/songwriter.
I earned my BFA in Theatre Performance from Central Washington University, where I focused on Meisner, Uta Hagen, Rasa boxes, American Bunraku puppetry, and Alexander technique.
Additionally, courtesy of the Betty Evans Shakespeare Scholarship, I had the unique opportunity to spend a year studying dialects and classical theater in London. During this time, I researched regionalisms and then travelled around England gathering recordings for my regional English dialect guidebook for actors. I applied this knowledge when I dialect coach for Defunkt Theater's production of Blasted by Sarah Kane, which had a focus on South London and West Yorkshire dialects and again when I coached The Mystery of Edwin Drood for the Metropolitan Community Theater Project, which had a focus on British Standard, Cockney, and Sri Lankan dialects.
My most recent voice/dialect work includes dialect coaching and music directing for Metropolitan Performing Arts's production of Madeline's Christmas (French, Russian, British Standard), dialect coaching Defunkt Theatre's production of The Pride (Cockney, RP, West Country), and Milagro Theatre's production of The Mermaid Hour (Boston Back Bay).
I am currently continuing my education as a voice and speech trainer by pursuing my Knight-Thompson Speechwork certification; I have most recently completed their Experiencing Speech workshop in December 2019 and will continue my education by attending their Phonetics Intensive Workshop in June 2020.
